YES!COMEDY MOVIES!
My Dad loved both funny movies and funny TV shows. He taught me to love and appreciate them too. When Little Danny was a kid, my dad had a job in Jersey City working the night shift at a Truck Weighing Station. He was working a lot back then, so on Friday Nights he would take me with him to his job so that we could have some "Father-Son" time. Around 11pm, we would watch old sitcoms like The Honeymooners and The Odd Couple on his old black-and-white portable TV. And then at midnight, we watched the early Sci-Fi TV show Star Trek.
I remember the day that he recorded Young Frankenstein on our old VHS machine. I never would've seen this Great Comedy Movie if my Dad hadn't made me watch it. I didn't think it was funny the first time I saw it cause I didn't get a lot of the jokes about old Frankenstein movies. But because my Dad thought it was one of the Best Comedy Films ever made...every time he watched Young Frankenstein, I would watch it with him. Not understanding the jokes motivated me to watch the old Frankenstein movies for the first time. Young Frankenstein was my Dad's favorite Comedy Movie. If my Dad loved a movie, he would watch it over and over again. Because of him, I now do the same thing. Like Father, Like Son.
"Danny Cries Like A Little Sissy-Girl....A Lot!"That's a touching story, isn't it? Kinda brings tears to your eyes, doesn't it?

Go on....take a second to dry your eyes and blow your nose. All done? Double check to make sure your nose is clean....get those boogers out of there. Hygiene is very important. Now you're done....so keep reading some more. |
Because of Young Frankenstein, I made sure to catch more movies directed by Mel Brooks like:
• Blazing Saddles
• The Producers
• History of the World
• Spaceballs
I think Spaceballs is pretty stupid now.But when I was a kid, I thought it was the funniest movie ever made! Probably because I understood all of the Star Wars jokes in that movie.
"Danny Has Seen Austin Powers About 10,000 Times Already"
Another great comedy film that my Dad introduced me to was Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.I was really busy with college & working at a J-O-B when Austin Powers first came out, so I missed seeing it at the theater in 1997. When Austin Powers finally premiered on cable, we both watched it together. My cheeks were hurting cause I was laughing so hard. Since I'm a huge fan of the James Bond Movies, I understood all of the jokes. Even when I was watching the early James Bond movies as a kid, I started to recognize similar patterns. Then I started asking my Dad the same questions over and over again.....
• The villain is always Super-Wealthy....why does he want to destroy the world?
• James Bond usually blows his cover pretty early in the movie....why doesn't the villain just kill him and get it over with? Why does he drag it out for so long?
• Why does the villain give James Bond every possible chance to escape certain death? Why doesn't he stay and supervise to make sure that James Bond is really dead?
• Why does the villain explain his evil plans in it's entirety?
My Dad's answer would usually be:
• I don't know! Shut Up and let me watch the movie!
OR
• Go ask your mother.....and bring back a Beer for me!
"Some More Of My Favorite Comedy Movies....."
Some of my favorite Comedy Movies were made by The Farrelly Brothers.
• Dumb and Dumber
• Kingpin
• There's Something About Mary
These are definitely "You Love 'em" or "You Hate 'em" Comedy Movies. I love all three but some of my friends and family HATE THEM! The day I went to see Dumb and Dumber in the theater, I was in a foul mood. I had just taken a Final Exam....and I knew I had blown it! So I was pretty pissed off going in to see Dumb and Dumber When I came out....I had totally forgotten about the exam. Of course, I was pissed off all over again about 4 weeks later when I saw how Fluking that Final Exam screwed up my semester GPA! Something about long drawn out "toilet" jokes seem to make me forget that my College Academic Career was also flushing down the "toilet."
That's the best endorsement I can make about Comedy Movies....it's a temporary escape from the drama of day-to-day life. After watching Comedy Movies, you feel relaxed and you're ready to fix whatever idiotic mess you managed to get yourself into in the first place.
"Danny Is A HUGE FAN Of Dark Comedy Movies"
There are other forms of comedy movies....not just the gross-out or slapstick stuff. There are the comedy movies that have much darker content....such as Satire and Dark Comedy Movies. These Dark Comedy Movies make fun of what is typically considered very serious subjects like.....
• Nuclear War
• Murder
• Drug Abuse
• Rape
• Disease
• Incest and other Morbid, Weirdo Sex Stuff
• Political Corruption
• Social Corruption

Examples of these types of Dark Comedy Movies are.....
• Team America: World PoliceThis movie gave me even more reasons to hate Preachy Hollywood Celebrities!
• Bad Santa Get the unrated version — Badder Santa! More Nudity!
• Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb The standard that other Political Satire Movies are judged by.
• A Clockwork Orange The Darkest of the Dark Satire Movies! This is another "Love It" or "Hate It" Movie!
• Fight Club This movie has some of the Coolest Movie Quotes ever!
• Natural Born Killers This is a Pure Social Satire Movie...some of the funniest murder scenes I've ever scene.
• American Psycho Another Social Satire Movie. The violence is really toned down from the novel it's based on....but it does a great job of ripping on the New York Culture of the 1980's.
• South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut The Best Title for a movie ever!
I've watched the South Park series from the beginning! My sister told me about the show when it first got started. She talked me into watching it....and then I as hooked! The South Park movie was made back in 1999....but I still watch it often to this very day. Some of the jokes are a little dated now, like Bill Clinton or the joke about Windows 98. But it's still hilarious! All of the humor is sick and vulgar....just the way Danny likes it!!!
The South Park movie is very observant....those of you who remember the social and political climate in the late 1990's will understand what the movie is ripping on.
